Our pumpkin vine has yielded one pumpkin this year. I am thankful for this one pumpkin because last year's vine produced zero pumpkins. This is an heirloom variety for pie baking. I look forward to that delectable pie!
(for all the other pies, we will buy our pumpkins from the farm up the street that grows without any pesticides or herbicides - we got 18 pumpkins there last year.)

18 pumpkins?!! That must have been a lot of pies! :)
You are lucky to have that simply perfect pumpkin. Here on Long Island we haven't had much rain at all, so the pumpkins will be small if at all. Not a good year for pumpkins.
Last year I had vines growing out of my compost pile. I waited and watched and it turns out they were pumpkin vines. 3 small pie-sized pumpkins grew; one rotted. The other two we roasted and make pie! Sadly, there are neither vines nor pumpkins this year.
